Street view of shops in downtown Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach may be best known as the home of the Daytona International Speedway and a vibrant vacation destination, but it’s also a pretty spectacular place to live. In fact, the city is home to just over 70,000 residents who enjoy a beautiful coastal location, year-round warm weather and countless opportunities for outdoor activities and entertainment. These are some of the top reasons why Daytona Beach is a great place to call home.

Beach Life

Life in Daytona Beach centers around the beach, which stretches for 23 miles along Florida’s stunning Atlantic Coast. The wide, white-sand beach is perfect for sunbathing and beach sports, and the warm waters are great for swimming, boating, parasailing and fishing. The beach also has numerous sections of hard-packed sand where vehicles are allowed, so you can drive your car right onto the sand.

Endless Entertainment Options

You’ll never run out of things to do in Daytona Beach thanks to the city’s plethora of entertainment venues. Residents can catch riveting car race at the Daytona International Speedway, ride the slides at the Daytona Lagoon waterpark, watch the weekend fireworks displays from the Daytona Beach Boardwalk & Pier, or catch a concert at the Daytona Beach Bandshell.

Arts & Culture

Daytona Beach has numerous museums, historical sites and cultural centers where you can appreciate the past and the present. These include the Museum of Arts and Sciences, which contains one of the largest collections of African art in the southern United States, the Cici & Hyatt Brown Museum of Art, and the historic Jackie Robinson Ballpark, which is the oldest active Minor League Baseball ballpark.

Sports For All Lifestyles

The first thing that comes to mind when many people think of Daytona Beach is car racing, but the city offers so many more sports for all types. Golfers can tee off on two courses at the LPGA International or at the Daytona Beach Golf Course. Boating enthusiasts can ply the waters along the coast or the Intracoastal Waterway. There are also numerous places to go cycling, jogging, fishing, practice yoga, and watch or play a baseball game.

Excellent Shopping

No matter what you’re in the mood to buy, chances are you’ll find it in Daytona Beach. Volusia Mall has a huge range of brand name shops and department stores, while the downtown area has independent boutique shops selling artisan items. You’ll also find outlet stores with fantastic deals, as well as a weekly flea market where you can search for unique treasures.

No Shortage of Schools

There are several schools for students of all ages in Daytona Beach, from elementary schools to middle schools and high schools, and several vocational schools. Post-secondary students can attend a number of universities and colleges including the University of Southern Florida Daytona Beach campus, the Bethune-Cookman University and the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
