Memorial Day is a day to remember those who died for our country, and to celebrate the freedoms that they so selflessly fought for. Here in Florida there are many ceremonies and celebrations taking place over the long weekend across the state. These are some of the best Florida Memorial Day events for all ages.

Great American Beach Party

Head to Fort Lauderdale’s world-famous beach this Memorial Day weekend for a day of fun, festivities and family-friendly activities. There will be live bands, vendors, fabulous food and a slew of presentations and shows to take in including a military tribute, the SOCOM Para-Commandos parachute jump, an art show, sand sculpting contest, classic car show and more!

When: May 28, 11am - 6:30pm

Where: Las Olas Oceanside Park, 3000 E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale

Hyundai Air & Sea Show

The adrenaline will be pumping at the Hyundai Air & Sea Show on Miami Beach this Memorial Day weekend. Watch members from five branches of the military, plus police, firefighters and first responders put on shows of technology and extreme sports. The action will take place on the water and in the air with live music by 3 Doors Down.

When: May 28 & 29

Patriotic Music Concert 

Boca Raton will be celebrating our fallen heroes with an evening of live music at the Mizner Park Amphitheater on Memorial Day. Bring a blanket or chair and settle in to a live performance by the band Krescendo. Chair rentals are available for $5 per person or free for active military members and veterans. There will also be a ceremony beforehand at the Boca Raton cemetery.

When: May 30, 7pm - 8pm

Orlando Carnival Downtown

Get a taste of Caribbean culture this Memorial Day weekend at the Orlando Downtown Carnival. For three days straight the streets will be filled with parades, pageantry, fantastic music, arts and food. Catch Soca and Dancehall music performances by Skinny Fabulous, Bunji Garlin, Tony Matterhorn and more. Be sure to catch the main parade on Sunday, May 28.

When: May 27, 28 & 29

Lightning in a Bottle

Celebrate Memorial Day weekend with electrifying music and stage performances at Lightning in a Bottle at Buena Vista Lake. Taking place over five days, the festival will feature three stages: Lightning, Thunder and Woogie. Gracing each stage will be established and up-and-coming artists performing everything from indie-rock to reggae, big bounce and experimental works.

When: May 25 - 30

Tampa Bay Margarita Festival

The Tampa Bay Margarita Festival takes place every Memorial Day weekend and this year is no exception. Join hundreds of revelers in Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park to sample icy cold margaritas, dance to live music, and indulge in divine food. The musical lineup this year includes Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Village People and Elle King.

Art in the City: Memorial Day Screening

Commemorate Memorial Day with contemporary culture in the artsy city of St. Petersburg. Head to The Factory for a screening of the award-winning film set in St. Petersburg about a war veteran struggling with PTSD and how art and human kindness transformed his life. The film features beautiful imagery of the city and its landmarks.

When: May 30, 6pm
