Lakeland

Lakeland was adequately named and built around thirty-eight lakes that now are a fundamental point in the community. While most downtowns are overcrowded, loud, and sometimes unenjoyable to visit – the 100,000 residents consider Lakelands Downtown and Munn Park town square to be their “living room.”  With charming shops, casual dining, craft breweries, and pubs – the activity around Munn Park are truly unique. Embracing its past, the city is sprawling with brick-lined streets, mature trees, and historic neighborhoods. This historic area is home to four local universities, including Florida Southern College, which boasts the largest onsite collection of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture.

Lakeland, FL Real Estate

Real Estate in Lakeland Florida consists mostly of single-family homes in historic and well-established neighborhoods. The typical home is a 1,500 to 2,000 square foot mid-century cottage or bungalow, with a single attached garage or carport, and a short drive leading straight off the street. The friendly and close-knit nature of the community is evidenced in the lack of fences or gates along the grid-patterned streets lined with mature trees.

Larger suburban homes can be found in southern Lakeland, including ranchers and minimal-traditional single-family homes with red brick facades and exterior shutters. Many of these homes can be found on historic brick-paved streets.

Interspersed with these properties are various renovations and new builds, displaying classic modern Floridian style and understated luxury.

Other common home types in Lakeland are the large mobile home parks, large lakeside homes with pools, new homes in master-planned communities like Hampton Hills, and low-rise apartment buildings.
