St. Johns County School District

Consistently coming in at number one is St. Johns County School District on Florida’s northeast coast. Niche.com rates the district as #1 for Best School Districts in Florida, #2 for Best School Districts for Athletes, and #7 for the Best Teachers in Florida. The average SAT score is 1240 and the graduation rate is 94%. If you’re living on the Atlantic coast in and around St. Augustine, this is a great place to send your kids to school.

Sarasota County Public Schools

Sarasota is known for its beautiful beaches, thriving arts scene and its excellent schools. There are 62 schools in the district that get great scores for academics, diversity, teachers and sports. Niche.com also ranks it as the #1 Safest School District in Florida. The average SAT score is 1220 and the graduation rate is 89%. The area is also home to a number of post-secondary institutions including the New College of Florida and the State College of Florida.

Okaloosa County School District

Okaloosa County encompasses the northwest coast of Florida around Fort Walton Beach and Destin. The schools in the district offer IB, AP and gifted programs and they are renowned for successfully preparing students for college. Top-rated high schools include Fort Walton Beach High School, Niceville Senior High School and the Collegiate High School at Northwest Florida State College.

Clay County School District

Located in the Jacksonville metropolitan area, the Clay County School District has 42 public schools including elementary, junior high and high schools. Niche gives the district a ranking of #3 for Best Teachers in Florida. There are several schools in Clay County that focus on science, which is great for young people who are interested in space, physics and biology. The graduation rate here is a whopping 93%.

Seminole County Public Schools

Seminole County is located in central Florida and it is part of the Orlando Metropolitan area. The schools here rank highly for diversity, athletics and college prep. There are 57 schools to choose from, many of which offer students the opportunity to focus on particular subjects such as biomedical sciences, engineering, and computer science. In fact, the district is ranked #1 in Florida for STEM studies.
