Home Buying Trends expected for 2021

2020 has been an interesting year for most home sellers and buyers. We have had to make many adjustments to find balance in our lives and discover how to live with Covid-19. The past 5 months have given us an opportunity to think of our own shifts in lifestyles, how we entertain, where we want to live, and what we need to create our Home Sweet Home.

Homebuyers are pushing aside their old list of must-haves to include new priorities from additional office space, larger outdoor living spaces, and even trends that include more in-home meal prep, rec-rooms, and even in home theaters. A shift has also included more home space with an emphasis on in-home office space for remote working and for the newest trend in education, virtual/remote learning. Finding a new residence for your family to allow more privacy for home and work is becoming a necessity rather than an option.

As we are spending more time at home, many homebuyers are seeking out homes with larger outdoor areas for their families to play soccer, recreate with friends, hold backyard gatherings, and seeking more outside space. Even searching for homes that offer outdoor shopping opportunities like Downtown Windermere and Winter Garden Plant Street. You can see from the rising trend in the sale of golf carts for shuttling families to the shops and restaurants along the way. We are embracing this newer and healthy attitude and lifestyle.

Buyers are also looking for kitchens that are functional as we are cooking at home more frequently. The kitchen will always be a space for home gatherings, we are just utilizing the space a little differently to provide safe distancing and for some, a new found love for creating delicious meals using gas, convection ovens, larger specs for refrigerators, and plenty of standing room and cabinet space.

Whether you are looking to purchase a home or want to find a new home, choose a realtor that can navigate the new trends. The knowledge from a professional real estate brokerage will help you navigate virtual platforms, lending and financial options, updated information on the area of interest to help you along in the home buying or selling process and experience. The right group/agent can make or break the experience. Be sure to select the agent that can provide you with the greatest benefit including keeping your information secure, moving the process from home searching to closing on your new home.

We have taken up new hobbies, rearranged our households, modified our behaviors; all while learning a new vocabulary that includes the word quarantine.
