About Boca Raton
Located about 15 miles north of Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton is the southernmost city in Palm Beach County. It has a population of approximately 100,000 inside its 29.1 square mile area; however, there are approximately another 200,000 people with Boca Raton postal addresses located outside of municipal lines, in areas such as West Boca Raton.
Boca Raton is easily accessible via many major highways, including Interstate 95, Florida’s turnpike, and Federal Highway (US Highway 1). It is also serviced by the Tri-Rail commuter rail line that links Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach. Local residents have 4 separate airports at their disposal- Boca Raton Airport, Fort Lauderdale International (21 miles away), Palm Beach International (22.5 miles away), and Miami International (41 miles away).
The area is known for its affluent and educated social community. It is the safest city in Palm Beach County, with a crime rate 38% lower than the Florida average. Boca Raton is known for its fantastic shopping and dining. With numerous shopping districts throughout the city, you can find everything from national department stores to unique local boutiques. The Daggerwing Nature Centre features a swampland boardwalk, butterfly garden, and an exhibit hall with interactive displays. The Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is a 20-acre sanctuary for coastal animals and vegetation. You can enjoy the aquariums and sea turtle rehabilitation facility, kayak through the lush mangroves, or walk the picturesque Boardwalk Trail and spot local wildlife.
There are also lots of family-friendly activities in the Boca Raton area. Sugar Sand Park has everything to keep a family busy, with a playground, carousel, nature trails, a community center, and gym. It’s also home to the Willow Theatre, and Children’s Science Explorium, a fun, hands-on museum for kids aged 5-12. Coconut Cove Waterpark features waterslides, pools, and a 986-foot lazy river.
And finally, get caught up in the pageantry of college football games, from tailgates to marching bands. Florida Atlantic University’s FAU Stadium is host to the annual Boca Raton Bowl, an NCAA Division 1 college football game featuring matchups from different national conferences.

Public education is managed by The School District of Palm Beach County. Boca Raton features twelve public elementary schools, five public middle schools, and four public high schools.
There are over fifteen private and alternative schools in the city, varying from religious schools to international schools, even a pre-professional ballet high school.
