Halloween is just around the corner, which means there are tons of spooktacular events taking place across the state! Whether you’re looking to scare yourself silly, earn accolades for your incredibly creative costume, or take the kids out for some trick-or-treating, you’ll find all types of freaky festivities happening from the Atlantic Coast to the Gulf Coast and Central Florida. These are our top picks for the best Halloween events in Florida this year.

Nightmare Village at XTreme Action Park 

Experience not one, but two haunted houses at the Xtreme Action Park Nightmare Village in Fort Lauderdale. The Seventh Gate and Carnival of Carnage are interactive experiences that tell surreal stories with real actors and scares around every corner. Afterwards you can calm your nerves with a stroll through the Horror Market and a drink at the mystery speakeasy. The event is recommended for adults and teens over 13 years old.

Halloween Night on Lincoln Road

There’s no better place to see wild costumes on Halloween in Miami than Lincoln Road. Dress up in your spookiest outfit and head to South Beach to join all the other folks in freaky attire after sunset. As the night grows darker, the parties will kick off for what is sure to be a wild Halloween evening that you won’t soon forget. Families can head down prior to sunset to grab some treats for the little ones and catch sight of some of the early party goers.

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando

As you would expect from a world-class amusement park, Universal Orlando is going all out for Halloween. The Orlando park will have shocks and scares around every corner with 10 haunted houses, five scare zones with scareactors, two live shows and themed food and drink at dining venues. The Horror Nights are happening every night up to and including Halloween. Tickets sell out fast, so reservations are essential.

Winter Garden Halloween Experience

There will be thrills and chills for all ages in Winter Garden this October as the city celebrates Halloween with a series of events. The historic downtown area will feature a hay maze, nightly light shows, a Spooky Caboose, and a Trick-or-Treat trail where kids can get sweets from 19 participating shops. The city will also host a Halloween themed Saturday market and Halloween movie series at the Garden Theater.

UNDead in the Water

For a unique Halloween experience, make your way to Sparkman Wharf in Tampa Bay and board the historic and haunted American Victory Ship. Explore multiple decks on this WWII cargo ship to uncover horrifying secrets about a mysterious female ghoul and her cult of the possessed. Will you make out alive and join the survivors or will you be chosen as the next sacrificial victim in The Gathering?

When: October 27 - 29, 7:30pm

Where: Sparkman Wharf, 615 Channelside Drive, Tampa Bay

Lights at Spooky Point

Kids and adults alike will love the first ever Lights at Spooky Point by Selby Gardens just outside Sarasota. Walk the forest trail lit up in spooky lights to see inhabitants such as ‘ghost orchids’ and flying ‘bat orchids’. There will also be pumpkin patches, hay rides and Halloween themed food and beverages. Make it even more memorable by taking a round-trip boat tour along the Intracoastal Waterway to get to and from Spooky Point.
