Ocoee is a suburb of Orlando, located in West Orange County. It has a population of approximately 48,000, spread over 16.3 square miles. It is bordered by Apopka to the North, Windermere and Gotha to the South, Hiawassee to the East, and Winter Garden to the West.
Residents in Ocoee are within a half-hour drive of most amenities within the Orlando area. Downtown Orlando is approximately 17 minutes away (13 miles), and Orlando International Airport is a 25-minute drive (24 miles). Theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Studios are both within a 20-minute drive. The main roadways in Ocoee include Hwy 50, which runs east-west through its southern section, and the 429 Expressway, which runs north-south along its western edge. The Florida Turnpike passes through the southern edge of the city, and the 408 Expressway just beyond the town is a direct toll route for traveling into metro Orlando.
Ocoee is also home to the Orlando Health Central Hospital, one of the major health centers in West Orange County.

Municipal Lakefront Park is one of Ocoee’s most visited parks, and a favorite of walkers, bird watchers, and fishermen.
Other nearby adventures include the Tibet Butler Nature Preserve, featuring a network of trails through pine and oak forests and wetlands, suitable for a variety of ages, and the West Orange Trail, a multi-use paved path that winds over 20 miles through a variety of natural habitats in the Winter Garden, Apopka and Oakland areas.
There is no shortage of other family-friendly activities in Ocoee, including the Family Aquatic Center, Princesses and Princes Playground, Gametime Ocoee Arcade, Woods Laser Tag, and West Orange Cinema. Local events include Friday Farmers Market in downtown Ocoee, Food Truck Fridays and Movies in the Park at Bill Breeze Park, and the annual Ocoee Founders Day Festival, Poker Run, Classic Car Show, Chick-Fil-5K, and Kids Fun Run.

While there are some grocery and convenience stores throughout Ocoee, the majority of the area’s big box and chain shopping/restaurants are located along West Colonial Drive (Route 50). Just south of Route 50, Plantation Grove is a local favorite outdoor shopping plaza. It features anchor stores like Publix, Walgreens, Starbucks, and LA Fitness, as well many other smaller stores, banks, and restaurants. It also features live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. Not surprising given its diversity, Ocoee features a wonderful variety of restaurants, from standard chains to eateries featuring cuisine from around the world.
